Professionalism is an important aspect of pharmacy that we need to use in our practice every day. Professionalism means being respectful towards patients and other healthcare providers, earning and keeping patients' trust, serving our duty to the community, and making responsible judgement calls. It is important to remember that what we say and the way we act will influence what patients think of us, and of the profession of pharmacy as a whole. Part of professionalism is also advancing the career of pharmacy. Pharmacists should work hard to display that our profession is helpful and important, and that we are knowledgable health care providers.
